Jumping from this blog to that, I stumbled upon the most delicious sounding treat - honey bars drizzled with a sweet glaze. Perfect to pair with a warm cup of tea on a drizzly spring day in Oregon. The recipe didn't dissapoint, but instead of the sophisticated presentation I found online, Abby and I pressed the sticky sweet dough into our teddy bear demarle pan for a fun, kid friendly treat.
3/4 c. oil
1/4 c. honey
1 c. sugar
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
Mix oil, honey, sugar, and egg together and set aside. Mix dry ingredients together. Add dry to wet ingredients and mix well (expect a thick, pasty batter). Spread into a greased pan* (the recipe suggested a cookie sheet). Bake at 325 for 15-18 minutes.
*We used a demarle silicone bake pan so we did not add any grease.
1 c. powder sugar
1 tsp vanilla*
milk as needed for consistency
*I did 3/4 tsp vanilla and 1/4 tsp almond for flavor
Ice the bars while still warm. Cut into squares once cool.
